I have searched several forums and can't get the information I need, I need some clarification. I have a 58 356 A 1600N I've had the heads rebuilt with new valves and guides. I bought a set of springs as the old 2 piece stock spring were week and had some rust on them, the springs I bought were from stoddered. same springs everybody sells for 356s only problem is the new spring are apr. 49.53 long and the stock springs are apr.43.15. my question is how do I use the newer springs on my A heads. do I need B retainers to make this all work correct. THANKS
Jay D.

If you don't use the 356 Registry I would try Justin's group at abcgt. B retainers and keeper's if there different sounds good to me but I don't know for sure...

I've tried both but no conclusive results, where's Jack when you need him.

Try Brad Ripely at Stoddard NLA, he seems to answer most questions about
356's than most suppliers.

PM him and see if he'll respond. Or call him. He's always been very helpful to me over the phone. Good luck--I hope you get this answered.
