I have some dark brown bakelite distributor caps that have no identification marks on them. No brand name nor part number. There's an old tag in the bag that says made in Germany.

They are the same size as a Bosch 02007 that go on the 205K distributors. They don't have the notch in the base of the cap to align the cap in the cut out on the top of the distributor so the cap can just spin around on the top.

Any idea what they fit? Non-VW?

I have a similar German cap I thought it was for a VW grab lahmeyer distributor. I'm sure TASB would know.

Equivalent to a Bosch 03 002. Looks to be a Bremi cap.

They are Dowal, with the notch they are for the ZV/JCU 4 R 3 1964 type III 1500 S model. The last of the stock cast iron distributors for VW. Those distributors had the cap clip with the raised finger to hold the cap in place.

They are actually installed on a very popular sought after distributor in the type III world.

People modify caps all the time. In fact the cap being discussed here has a substitute, the common short cap can work with the above distributor by simply filing a notch in the rim.
