I just talked to someone at WCCR.
It wasn't Lenny, but he said they should have their heat-seaming equipment up and functional in the coming four weeks or so.
They also indicated that tooling up to do type 3s was something they were interested in(!)
Maybe anal-retentive people like me will have this option available soon..
Thanks for the tip, Erik!
Will keep y'all posted.
And,
A BIG thanks to those that took the time to post pics of their OG interiors.

See IF you can get them to make that cardboard/plastic strip that runs across the upper part of the rear seat back for Fastbacks and Notchbacks a little wider so it'll install easier. That's the hardest seat cover to install out of all of them I've done in the last 20+ years. I mentioned it to Mario when he was on here, but don't know if they did anything about it.
You'll find out what I mean when you go to do your own. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

x2. I took a battle wound on that one and had one of the sharp tabs puncture my palm. _________________ 69 Fastback Build

I really need to get a pic of my sunroof seal that's less than a year old that the blue rubber piece has already almost completely come out of. And I don't mean a 3 or 4 inch section either, I'm talking about the whole opening. I bought it from one of the usual "highly respected" suppliers too. Disappointed, you bet. The previous seal lasted 9 years, and this one barely went 9 months. It's not like I live in Texas or Arizona where it gets really hot either. These are the things that really need to be addressed. The crap parts that are out there. |
Steve, here's a pic of the sunroof seal I mentioned above (finally quit raining). You can see the blue piec is almost completely out of the felt part.

Wanted to update this thread..
I have been working with Dean Satterfield, general manager at TMI.
Sent him my OG '67 seat covers, to be used as patterns.
The 67-only low-back roll-over seat covers are now an option.
Note that they also got the seam lengths correct..
Sometimes, the squeaky wheel does get the oil after all!
Back seat patterns also now include the extra seams for 67-71.
If you order from TMI, make sure to specify the extra seams.
Based upon my experiences there,
You are better off being specific if you want correctness.
Just one little bit better for us type 3 nerds.. _________________ Bus Motor Build

That's pretty sweet, I hope they will do highback seats as well. _________________ 69 Fastback Build

I bought my 64 notch with a black interior. Obviously, someone added the black basketweave seat covers and black carpet. I always wanted a rear seat center rest. Took my rear seat off, and what do I find. Did a quick web search and saw this post. Wondering if my car originally came in this color combo. What is this color called?
Guess the possibility of doing something custom for the interior is an option now. |

I think it's supposed to be a sort of Teak, but found only in 66 cars. It might however be a brown color, as you could get that in 69. Kind of like Steve doing his interior in red, as it was available. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
