I want to know what happened to my old bus... It was sold around this time last year and I really miss it. It was a 1971 westy in Pastel White. It was sold to a guy in Bristol who turned around and sold it again (I could rant, but I won't).When I sold it, it had random VW parts in it. I have some photos, an
m-plate, and its old license number.

Here's the M-plate

And the camping license plate on it was
52745, that was the plate from the 80s.

That is the last registration sticker that was on it.
Sorry for the long post, but I didn't want to break it all up.
I'm just looking for info on what was done with it and where it is now.

you sold it to ken koozie ( I believe that's how you spell his last name)

good guy, total flipper.

don't know where it is now, but quite possibly the crusher, or at bug city being parted out. that bus was rrrrrrruffff.

*edit*

actually, I do believe that bus did in fact get parted. if he doesn't sell something in about a month, it gets parted. I think I have some interior parts from that bus, and recall him selling a bunch of westy parts at a show

He told me it was a piece of junk and was going to be a parts bus. You can guess that when I saw his ad asking 3500-10000 for it, I was mad.

Connecticut is going to tax us right the fuck out of here....don't get me started on these idiots....

yes, the bus was rough. I bought some dash stuff and some odds and ends. ken is ok, known him for years. if he cant sell a car quick, he parts it out within a month or so. typically he is a bug guy, but does get a bus every now and then if the price is right.

just the way it is. honestly, I would buy a parts car for some bits and pieces I needed for whatever project I was working on. when I got what I needed, I would sell off stuff to recoup the cost of said parts car...then it was crusher bait. I don't have it in me anymore to warehouse stuff like I use to. if parts don't pertain to what I currently own, they get sold or junked...

it's just how some of us can afford the hobby. it's getting hard to find decent stuff anymore. you guys would puke if you knew how many splits got the ax in the 90's.....bays....pfft....you couldn't give them away. times have changed for sure

72 is a great year, esp if it's a runner. those 1.7 T4 engines run forever when maintained well.

I saw your WTB ad. I understand you're young, but your budget isn't there. if you buy the one you posted, it is going to be in the same or worse condition of the 71 you sold.

not telling you to give it up, but you need about 5-9K for a decent bus these days....and even at that, you WILL need to add more money to the repairs.

in the advent of tv shows, internet and auctions prices have done nothing but go up. keep looking, you never know...

a 200.00 bus will be in the 5-8K range by the time you get it sorted, and that is if its 75% complete and little to no rust. even at that, it won't be anywhere near perfect.... proper body work/rust repair is very expensive.
