PostPosted: Fri Jun 23, 2017 1:13 pm    Post subject: Late Bay Front Emblem Installation Reply with quote

I just purchased a brand new front emblem for my 1975 kombi and 3 clips to fit. (The clips are the black type).

However when installing these the front emblem sits too far away from the nose.

Are these aftermarket clips not good as the original ones?

The front emblem does sit flush on the nose(never been hit) when these are not installed.

Any tips or ideas on how to install the badge?

Thanks in advance for your help as usual the Samba is the best.

The clips have never worked for me.

My solution is to affix the emblem with three dabs of clear silicone sealant. that stuff sticks very well! And if done carefully, is hardly noticeable.

Use some blue no-residue masking tape to hold it in place overnight.

It's not going to sit flat without it being bent. New ones are flat, the originals were slightly arched.

wrong kiddo

the late ones were more or less flat. the early bay's have a slight arc to them.

I have used real vw clips to get them to mount. the trick is to test fit them in the holes on the nose first. once that is sorted clip them on the emblem and press it in.

generally what happens is bad bodywork/thick paint prevent them from going into the holes on the nose

If I'm not mistaken, they're part # 211 853 619. That should help with finding a seller.

I see you're based in Malta, so these ones from Germany might be an option for you:

Can anyone send a close up picture of how the badge is flush to the bodywork when installed with the original clips?

So the original badges are flat or slightly curved?

Thanks in advance.

your emblem will be pretty flat. it doesn't sit flush to the paint. there is about a credit cards width of a gap around the emblem with a STOCK emblem....not sure how ugly an aftermarket one is

Joanna Jaime (sp) in the Philippines has these. She has many ads here on the Samba.
