Is it for scratches, or like painting a whole fender? If it is just for scratches or small dings, you might try just getting some orange enamel paint and testing it out for color match. Then add other colors (maybe gray, red, yellow) till you get a good match. It wont make the scratch disappear completely, but close. Most likely anything you buy that is advertised to be a perfect pumpkin orange will not be any better that what you could mix up yourself. Gotta be patient. Mix it up, paint it on, and see how it looks when its dry. then try again. |

It's for paint chips. The vehicle was restored about 8 years ago and hasn't been driven much since then. Consequently, the paint is very good condition (except for the paint chips. |

Ron should chime in on this, but don't auto body paint suppliers use some sort of a scanner/colorimeter to analyze a color and formulate a matching mix?
On an old paint job; even in a factory color, this seems to be the best way to get a decent match.
Good luck, Mondshine |

Yes, paint stores can scan, don't think a formula from 40 years ago will match to faded paint or a repaint with whatever it was painted with. |
