Hello looking for windscreen for my 59 ghia
From research I have come across lowlights having different windscreen opening size.
Also an old thread about two sizes of windscreens

When I look to buy one in the uk they all say 56 to 74, so one size for all

So before I take the plunge and buy one are they all the same size ?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Harry
The windscreen openings are the same size all model years. The rubber that mounts them changed mid'66 model year from accommodating the "C" chrome to the "T" polished aluminium. The rubber has different dimensions so the windscreen glass is different for the later model years. However there is the "Cal" look rubber without the trim having the same dimensions as the later rubber, so the later glass fits.

The rubber with "C" channel takes the tall 17.25 inch glass.
The rubber with "T" channel takes the 17 inch glass.
The rubber with no trim "Cal-lool" also takes 17 inch glass

Choose carefully. But the German blocked rubber is by far the better stuff to use.

wow thanks Nicholas that is simple and comprehensive Smile

So i have sellers in UK all saying the screen fits all years now we know this is not necessarily true Sad

at the moment I have no screen or rubber or trim.

so If i buy a screen and its 17" and then have to buy t channel trim, is the appearance of t channel and c channel the same ? and is it fine to put t channel on an older car ?

thanks again for your help

You, with a lowlight should use the "C" channel. Presumably you already have that chrome trim. You other questions are answered in the pdf.
