Can anyone recommend a vendor who stocks a quality plastic electric ignition switch for a 79 Westy ? Someone mentioned quality/fit issues and I only hope to do the job once.
Thanks!

I think this is the one I used in my '78

http://www.busdepot.com/171905865

Years ago, the coil came loose and rotated around, which shorted the +15 wire from the switch. Also fried the original ignition switch.

Somehow, that seems to have also damaged the function of the lock slightly. Well, I tried a bunch of aftermarket switches and none ever worked.

This one finally let me remove the push button system I had for my starter for a long time.

Thanks WestyMan, I ordered the OEM German part from them, along with a new foam engine seal.

FWIW, that switch was used in the water cooled cars well into the 90s in Golfs & Jettas
