I know there has been a lot of discussion regarding fuel pumps etc
Getting so close to start up BUT
The original FI fuel pump on our 69 is leaking So I am looking to replace it.
What is the best modern equivalent on the market ? What are others running?
Looking for a straight forward replacement with correct pressure etc.
If you can share make and model and any links to shops selling them that would be great!
many thanks _________________ SBS #20 UK

Most of us are using the Airtex E2000 pump or it's equivalent from Precision Products (O'Rielly's). You re-use the original pump bracket (minus the plate), and install it in the center opening of the beam.
There's a great write up-discussion about it in the "Blankity blank fuel pump thread". Sorry I don't have a direct link at this moment. You can even do a search for it.
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Agreed, that's the one.
Now if you can find it local, you'll be better off if you have any problems with it. Fuel pumps, brake parts, and electrical items are things I prefer to purchase locally in case I have an issue/problem with them.
I only mention it, as I did buy a fuel pump from O'Reilly's, only to have it leak fuel on installation. Took it back to O'Reilly's, and they located another one at another store. I had a choice, wait 3 hours for to be delivered to the store, or drive the 15 minutes and pick it up. I picked it up rather than wait, as I was running out of daylight to see. Just a thought. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Hard to find in the UK locally. But found one for $55 + shipping in the US.
thanks
Think I will take a look at the old original leaking one see if its fixable whilst I wait for new one.
I have a few for spares that don't seem to run. _________________ SBS #20 UK

How are you searching? I bet Ford used that pump on many other cars, including those never sold in the US. |

Airtex E2000 only came up on US ebay etc
used on a Ranger and many others. Different brands available but went for Airtex.
Nothing came up in the UK.
But would be good to find something that works. _________________ SBS #20 UK

All sorted from a US seller found one for less and genuine. Also the feedback is way better than that French seller.
Will see what it is like when it arrives.

Just fitted the Airtex fuel pump.
Quick question
As the replacement pump only has 2 ports is it just from tank to FI filter to pump then out to the damper and on to the metal line thru car to the motor?
The return line does that now go straight back to the fuel tank?
Just previously it went back to the original 3 port fuel pump and the tank.
Just thought by going straight back to the tank it may upset the fuel pressure?
confirmation would be great before I move on.

Yes.....from the tank to the filter to the pump to the damper to the engine.
Yes....return...from regulator, to the tank. Ray |

From the link above:

The two port L-jet pump goes like this:
Tank------filter------inlet port on pump-----outlet port on pump------damper-----fuel rail pressure side-----regulator-----return line -------** here you have a choice**
A. connect to the Y fitting....left leg going to another Y fitting between pump and filter. On older L-jet pumps they primed and kept up with volume easier by using some of the return fuel along with fuel from the filter-----right leg to tank return nipple.
B. Return line to tank deleting the Y fittings. |

Thanks Bob, It was more just to confirm what I was doing was right.
I was over thinking and the fact fuel lines would now run direct from the fuel pressure unit and return to the tank did not seem right.
I read so many threads on the subject I should have bookmarked the good ones.
thanks again _________________ SBS #20 UK
