I am trying to match Ruby Red L456 on my 64 Ghia Convertible. I am looking for the modern day equivalent two stage paint code if anyone knows if there is such a thing? The shop that I want to go to sprays Valspar products and he is having difficulty finding the right match.

Seems like I ran across that a while back in one of the Chris Vallone videos on youtube - he was restoring a '65 ruby red and mentions the modern equivalent in the video. I think it was a Suzuki Samurai or something crazy like that. Hope that helps.

The PPG Dealer where I got my paint said it was Masai Red paint code: 73091 SC. I believe he said it was a Land Rover Color. Hope this helps. That is if the Guy at the PPG Dealer knows what he is talking about.

I painted my car L456 by going to the Paint store they matched using the PPG equivalent Omni brand. I had the option of single stage or base clear. I replicated the factory finish single stage.

You can also get Ruby Red single stage thru Dupont in their Nason line. I had 2 gallons mixed recently.

Any word on the pricing for any one of those reds? Is red still at the top of the price heap? Last time I went to the NAPA (who has a paint mixing station) it was near/at $200/GL. Thx.
