Tried starting my Thing which has been sitting awhile and the wire connecting to what I believe the diagram called the throttle bypass valve??? I could be a little off on the title there . But anyhow when you turned the key on the cover on the wire began smoking and melting away? Anyone have ideas on what would cause this? Trying to sell the darn thing....no pun intended, and now all these issues!! Mad

I am assuming you are talking about the Idle Cutoff Valve. Either the wire to the valve has shorted out or the solenoid for the valve has grounded internally. Shouldn't be a big deal to find the problem and fix it, replacing the valve if need be.
