Hello,

Has someone installed one of those new exhausts on his bus, any feedback about the quality?

If affordable the #3255 stainless version could be a really good choice.

Thanks!

I installed a 3257 on a customers bus last week. It fit well and sounded good.

The kind where you can't adjust the valves on the 1/2 side.

That would be my concern with that exhaust.

As a bonus, this exhaust comes with free engineering and design from A1 Mufflers of California.

No charge!

I hope Tiger has a patent and a lawyer.

I installed the original A1 into a 1968 bus once. You can adjust the 1/2 side valves without removing the muffler. It's harder but still can be done. Great quality and throaty sound. The cost was $1000 but that included a pair of flanged, ceramic coated heater boxes.

I also run the original Sidewinder system, I've got one of the first bay window sidewinder made, nearly 10 years ago. Upgraded it this year with a v-band and new outlet.

But this empi knock off could be a nice alternative for the budget minded vw enthusiast, that's why I initiated this topic.

I just can't bring myself to buy EMPI products for my bus. Unless I had no choice.

I purchased this exhaust and had it ceramic coated satin black. It looks and sounds great. My question is that it is not clear where the bracket that come off the muffler is supposed to mount to. Did anyone figure that out?

Do you have some pics? Sound file? Th bracket goes on a tab welded on the #1 J-tube.

I just had a $3800 long block built. I told the builder absolutely NO empi parts allowed.
