My father in law is looking to buy a Cabriolet and has found a 91 VW Cabriolet Aigner. I know these were a 1 year only edition so wondering does this make the value go up? The color is a Bordeaux color and have seen online that only 399 of these were made in North America.
Also, what do we look when we look at the car? Any rust spots of anything else to look for?

Thanks

Cabriolet Buyer's Guide: http://www.cabby-info.com/Files/BuyingACabriolet.pdf . You can kind of skip over the value section as it was written back in 2008 when the overall value of these cars was quite lower than it is now.

An Aigner is a one-year only model, but it's not so rare and in-demand to add much in value to any other Cabriolet in the same condition.

I would agree. The biggest plus I see is the canvas top. The biggest minus is that the interior design and colors are terrible. Of course, everyone has their opinion on what looks right.
