PS door handle

On my 1996 VW Jetta, the passenger side door handle is lockable, but the 1999 VR6 Jetta, MK3 I have, it doesn't have the passenger side locking handle, and so I don't know if it originally came that way, or if it is possible to convert it to a locking handle?

why would ya want too? idea is power locks mean not required why vw took it away.. but remove handle.. look to see it its got the white plastic box the lock goes into

You mean the box that the tongue like wobbly paddle goes into a slot at inside the door?

yup... if it lacks that.. then adding a key slot will be more work as you would require it... no key slot means the handle should come off easy to look.. but did vw redesign the powerlock switch piece on that side to eleminate the key slot..
