Hey Guys
I hope you can help me with my request. I had found a 51 Split Beetle Volkswagen. Its all original and has been storage in barn for the last 40 years. Original interior, original paint, never welded, no rust only a bit surface, original gearbox and engine (engine not blocked) original wheels with date stamp etc etc.
What you mean is it worth? Is it better to restore it or better leave like it is?
Thanks a lot
Kind regards patrick |

Sounds like a great find!
At the end of the day, it's your car, so do what you want, regardless of what we say.
Are you looking to sell it? Or enjoy it?
These days, the "survivor" style is popular. It represents "original condition" and as long as it isn't rusting out, it won't diminish its value to wait or forego restoration.
If it can be brought back into service with a minimum of cosmetic fixes, it is probably best to do so. You can't "undo" a restoration.
Post pictures, please! |

It's only original once. Originals are much preferred over restored. There are so few original 51's out there. If it is not rusty and it runs, maybe just drive it as it is? Or an engine can always be rebuilt while the rest of the car is left alone. _________________ 1986 westfalia auto 1.9TD

if your car looks similar to this one, don't restore it:
