I will be posting many pictures of this Beetle I just purchased. It is original paint, interior, engine etc. It will be a lot of fun going through this car and cleaning it up even more! I will post many more pictures as I work on the car!

That car looks like it has been restored to me. But if it is truly original... good score for sure. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

I know, I was actually hesitant to go look at it due to it looking "too good" in pictures. It has lots of nice patina that I will post pictures of, its amazing. |

Great looking bug. Let's see some engine pictures as well.
Let me know when you get it dialed in. I come by and pick it up. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

What a beautiful car! The fender fitment and door/hood gaps are just perfect! I also like the roof rack
Questions:
1. I thought 1962 was the last year for the crest on the hood?
2. When was the pear shaped side view mirror introduced? But that one doesn't look like a pear side view. Looks more rectangular. Is it a rare mirror?
EDIT: Nevermind question 2. Just found this thread in the forum:

1962 was the last year for the front hood crest. HMM?
More information on that aspect of the vehicle as we start to pick it apart bit by bit. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

I think the badge went until Oct of 62 based on a post I found that Glutamodo posted. So could be very early 63. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

August of 1962 is the month of manufacture. There are early 63s that have the wolfsburg medallion. |

One of the other items that had me questioning the car before I went to look at it (besides the condition) is the radio and lack of antenna. The car did not come with a radio rather it appears someone added it at some point and had a company called Hytech Services in Aurora IL. install it. They made some sort of antenna that I will post pictures of and left it under the hood.
The side mirror is an accessory mirror. I bought the car from an estate, the owner was a car collector and was really into accessories. The family has not found a mirror that was removed from the car. |
