When you pull on the hood release cable, nothing happens other then the cable moving. No release sound or anything. So, does anyone have a workable second option to get into the front truck area? Thanks.

It's not uncommon not hear anything. Have someone pull up on the hood when you are pulling the release. Try that first. And welcome!

Sometimes, when the cable isn't adjusted correctly, it can help to have somebody push the trunk lid down and hold it down before you pull the cable to allow the hook to clear, then lift.
Good luck, Mondshine

Thanks for the feedback, but what are my options if the cable won't release the hood latch.

Do I remove the hood hing screws?
Thanks for your help.

The 4 phillips screws on the hinge attached to the top of the hood are a #4 size phillips head so make sure you go and get the correct size phillips bit.

There are also two inspection ports one in front of the steering box and one on the passenger side. They are held in place by 3 small sheet metal screws. If you can remove the one on the passenger side you can probably get to the latch from there.

Since you only have 2 posts, dumb question in case you are new to Things, but are you tugging on cable inside of glove box and not heater control cable by your left knee?

Don't ask me why I ask 🙄

If you need to force your way into the trunk, a better approach might be to remove the M8 bolts that are visible when the windshield is folded down. Admittedly, the windshield and trunk lid together will be a heavier object to lift, but however you do it, you will need two people to do some careful wiggling to disengage the latch.
Good luck, Mondshine
