Does anyone know the purpose of the floorpan studs as shown in the attached photo? There are Four (4) in the front and Four (4) additional on the Rear Crossbeam.

The oem carpet had vinyl gromets in the carpet that fit on them. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

TMI Carpet Kit has the ordering option of w/ Grommets or w/o Grommets. Their interpretation of 'grommet' is a rubberized edging surrounding the gear shift and the heater levers and has nothing to do with carpet's method of attachment, i.e. w/ grommet or w/o grommet.
