Hello,

Im restoring the seats of my 1950 split bug and here in germany they offer ready to install seat paddings of horsehair but for bugs from 8/1955 and newer.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

http://www.vwkaeferersatzteile.de/Interior/Seats/S...:4917.html

Do the proportions/size of these pads for seats from 8/1955-1964 differ a lot compared to pads for my seats built till 7/1955?

Thanks for your help
Andrew

They differ in size and thickness. It will be very difficult to get the correct shape of the seat with the available horsehair padding. I know that WCCR uses 1" medium density foam padding to fill the seats to the correct shape. My seat in my 51 were spot on. Look in my gallery for pictures. Hope this helps, if not call Lenny Coop at WCCR.

One more recommendation for Marcus (aka Beetlekey), he did my seats for the 53, and they are a work of art!!

I asked him on Saturday at the Hessich Oldendorf Meeting.
As he builds them manually from scratch and as its a lot of work, he prefers to offer them in combination with a whole interior upholstery job.

I just noticed that Wolfsburg West has added a '50 to '55 seat pad kit to their lineup. (Woo-Hoo!!) Has anyone out there seen or tried these yet?

So, not really '50 to '55 as marketed, but more likely Oct '52 to '55 then? Still, it should be better than the 8/1955 choice posted by the OP?

I did the seats in my '50 and I think there are pics and details in the "Zarwerks Spy Cam" thread...

These paddings are 54 - 55, with modification they will work on zwitter. But no split. I will try them next time!
