just purchased a 73 Thing, has rotten areas in rear fender areas near lower wheel well, and floor behind seat and battery area.
Can not seem to find a sheet metal repair panel for this????
Any thoughts?
Glad to be apart of the forum! Gonna be a great project for sure! _________________ old toys are fun |

Yes I have looked there as well as every other THING website with no luck, was hoping someone had a link to them or something? It must be a common spot for rust repair but there seems not to be parts. _________________ old toys are fun |

You are most likely going to need to purchase a rear clip from a car that has had front end damage and cut the panels out that you need from the clip.
The only new panels that you are going to find are inner and outer rockers, floor pans (full or partial) and a few other panels (front apron, etc.).
Call or email Mike Basso at ThingParts.com for advice and to see if he has any rear clips that have the panels that your need.

Cull VW Thing doors are a tried and true body repair method. Many folks like me sell culled doors for $25 to be used for body repair. Typically the bottom edge of Thing doors can rust out leaving lots of perfect body metal to use for other rust repairs... |
