Hey gang.
Buying a SS and it's been said my standard buggy towbar won't work.
Anybody use a bar with a Manx s s ?

Thanks

AMAC,

I don't have an SS but I did modify a stock VW towbar to work on my 6" wider beam on my car...even made it stronger by adding some reinforcement in spots and fixing the poor welds on the original.

If you don't have other beetles to tow with that bar it may be possible to modify it to work on your new ride. If you can figure out the geometry to attach those two beam "clamps" or dropouts to the rest of the towbar without interfering with the nose bodywork, you might be back in business.

I'm not sure why a tow bar wouldn't work on your KickOut SS. I used a tow bar on my KickOut for two years up until I changed my chassis.
My new chassis mounts to the lower torsion tubes at the grease fittings where the tow bar used to go but the lower bumper mounting is unchanged.

Thanks.
I don't see why either. Some think it's the SS front bumper that will interfere

On my Manxter, which uses a similar bumper, it gets in the way of the tow bar. I had to take the bumper off to flat tow with the standard VW tow bar. I'd add some quick disconnects to the turn signals so they could stay on the bumper when removed for towing.
