Thought I'd give this a try! The goal of this build is to keep the burnt paint look as much as possible but to give it a fully rebuild pan with IRS conversion, disk brakes around, new interior and (eventually) a twin turbo engine.
It is an April 1956 built Canadian De Luxe (113) in Prairie Beige, original Alberta car, matching pan and body but without the matching engine.
Some pics of how I bought it:

This sums up a few hours of work:
New pans, welded in IRS brackets, repaired framehead etc. Wanted to be a little original so the whole pan will be dark grey metallic. |

A few rear suspension details, it's not done yet, I need more clearance under the strut towers still. But it all works and the brakes just look amazing!

Some pictures of the rebuild of my front beam.
It was pretty rough but I was able to re-use all parts, except for all the pins and bushings.
Put in some adjusters, kept the stock width tho
A bolt broke off, great! Lots of work to fix..
All worth it in the end tho..
Final result Should be enough stopping power |

Since my dad rebuilds and repairs classic dashboards, I brought my old dashboards on my trip to The Netherlands and visited him with this small favour to ask..
Some before pictures
Did he do a good job or what?? Insides of course rebuilt and tested.

Sneak-peak at the engine...
This is not the one I plan to permanently go into my car but since that engine is a longer, more complicated and lets face it, more expensive build I need one in the mean time.
It's a 1600cc DP bought of a guy who bought it himself to build a trike but left it out in the rain too long and seized it. I used the trailing arms and parts for my IRS conversion and also the transmission. Great deal!
It's almost a full rebuild, main bearings were still ok, all other bearings are replaced, new 1641 cylinders and rebuild heads. I'm going for a theme here with the copper nuts.. And Porsche 356 carburetors, Zenith 32NDIX's from my old project back at home.

Superb job by your dad down-under in the lowlands !
Interesting to see that your speedo needles are not "clear glass" needles, that must have been a Canadian thing may be? _________________ drive it like you just robbed the bank

Well, it is the lighting in the picture as well as the oxidation on the "clear glass" needle.. After cleaning it got a little better but it is still not perfect. Better still than a reproduced one! _________________ ______________________

Engine update, pretty much done, it's going on to the tranny soon.
I love this picture, just finished putting in the bumpstop from the 1972 IRS pan I bought for the conversion. An hour of cutting and grinding, but worth the effort

Got my tires selected on the new rims!
195/65/15's for the rear on 5.5 wide rims and 165/60/15 on 4.5 wide rims on the front. Looks good!
And some body work I'm doing right now, just undoing some damages from the past, no rust issues but some body damage. So many hours spent on the body, I'll post some before and after pictures when I'm done welding.

Little update on the front clip. Lots of work and measuring over and over again I got the donor one in nice and straight.
The front quarter was damaged and badly repaired at one point, it simply had to go. The donor one turned out really nice and a great fit!
And of course the heater channels...
Rear quarters also came from the same donor, from the picture with everything layed out on my driveway.
And some interior pictures, this will be finished stock and freshly pained!

A coons age? Just about 5 weeks, been busy with work and vacationing and such. Almost ready for paint, but I've been working on some cool things.
Custom fuel system all done up
Found a very nice set, original VW Gossen tach from a type 3, rebuilt by my dad last week.
And I've found this Windshield washer kit in The Netherlands while I was there, an original VW VDO aftermarket set from the fifties! With a working hand pump for in the Oval dash. Pretty excited about that one _________________ ______________________

WOW, get rid of that broken and taped together bowden tube!
Also, are you cutting the radio hole back in the dash before paint? _________________ Formerly known in the forums as "OVALTEEN"
