I have a 93 Eurovan CL into which I will swap the parts of a 92 Westfalia.
In a former thread I was rebuilding the Westy, but I have found a van in better shape, with lower km's and it is a five speed.
Former thread:

First order of business: fixing rear brakes and handbrake.
Previous owner had em installed all wrong and snapped off the clips for auto adjustment.
Throw a bit of paint in em I guess:

Ok rear brakes are working and handbrake also. A couple of ball joints and she should be good to pass inspection.

Awesome project -- plus barn doors!!! Very cool!
The frame rust on the Westfalia looked very daunting. |

Please take lots of pics of the interior bits n' pieces. I'm very interested in swapping in the CV interior on my Weekender when our kids go off to college. _________________ Casey--

Well at least this van has the newer style rear trans mount.
And this floor isn't too bad. Good wire brush, rust convert, and paint or por-15

There was certainly a lot of rust on the red westy. And it could have been fixed. Would have been ready to put back together in like 3 years. lol.
This one will be on the go a lot sooner.
Yes I'm still not sure on the barn doors. I like them. But are they better to have then the tailgate, I don't know.
I've been looking for other westies with barn doors but haven't really seen any. |

So I started in on the rockers. Then removed the bumpers and hitch. Then I started removing the interior.

I think the doors on vw vans are only on vans not imported to usa. I,ve noticed them on other generations of busses also. I,m speaking of the rear doors only but I never heard them refered to as barn doors before. Bill pellegrino [email protected] |

Having hit my head on a drooping tailgate - I like barndoors! They won't protect you from the rain like a tailgate does -- but I think they are functionally superior, especially when you can open them up all the way. I have a 97 transporter with them - and have dreamt of moving them over to my other van.
Any plans for that nice rubber floor? |

So pretty much all day to remove cabinet and side stiffeners for pop top.
