Hi Matt -
I'd be willing to contribute to that Fiche scanning as well.

I've got a '78, and am always at a loss trying to find parts - as I don't' know the part number nor what it is called.

Another great source for replacement parts and their numbers is often... but not always... Bus Depot.com because they have a tendency to use VW part numbers for their parts. It is NOT a definite and perfect system, but I have frequently used their online catalogue to help me determine what a part I have on hand is meant for.

I've found the print catalogs from places like JustKampers and Wolfsburg useful as well. They often have exploded out views of the parts they supply. As a bonus you can also quickly figure out which parts are readily available for order and which you'll have to hunt down.

I'd be willing to put something towards a scanned microfiche if mattcuddy can help to scan it.

On a side note, how soon after the end of bay window production did VW start deleting parts from their system? Would a 1990 microfiche be much different from a 1979 one?

Best way to answer that is to have a look at the '90 one. You can then judge for yourself how many parts have been deleted as it will state "No Longer Available" against the part.

Like nearly immediately. The 1990 version would have much fewer numbers in it.
