Just looking for some feedback on rebuilt heads from Bus Depot. I'd be a two limbed man if i bought from a distributor up here.
Thanks

they get them from AVP in Sacramento. Do a search under AVP and make your decision. My decision was to buy new ones from Len Hoffman at Hoffman Automotive Machine _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

I'm running a set on my bus right now, have been since late Winter. I ordered a set, got one reworked AMC casting and one reworked OG. If you go that route, disassemble them and lap the valves - I had one which leaked pretty badly straight off. Old VWs aren't my field of expertise, but the seats also seemed to cut pretty wide.
That said, the bus runs thus far and they haven't left me stranded yet.. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

How's it going with your Bus Depot heads at this point? |

Pretty well here so far. No further issues so far and I drive her almost daily. Slight valve tick but that could be a lot of things... I suspect lifter issues for that. _________________ '78 Bus 2.0FI

They are done by AVP and AVP rebuilds that which should have never been put back into service again.
It's a roll of the dice. You may as well get heads from GEX, as they have about the same 30/70 success rate as AVP seems to. If you are really lucky, you will be OK. If not, you could have saved money by getting quality parts the first time. |

Yea well there is a major flaw with Len Hoffman heads that nobody tells you about, that is they are so well done and pretty you do not want to put them on an engine just to get them dirty. |

I have that same issue. They look so nice I just want to keep them for Christmas every year _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
