My brother in law picked up a 74 standard type1 at an estate sale. And Xatie wants it. I generally looked it over and sent Robbie some pics. But I didn't really go through it or compression test as I didn't know Katie wanted it when I was in Napa. I was hoping a type 2 guy I'm familiar with could check it out and really go through it and also perform a compression test. Or recommend a shop in Napa my brother could drive it to. I don't really want him to drive far to a shop if it can be avoided. Didn't see any shops in the business listing. Selbach European auto in Napa is closed due to construction. Paying of course for this service. Any info would be great.
(Will post in type1 forum later if needed)

Xevin - compression - P&C and valve work is so cheap to deal with on Type I motors that I would forgo it on a good body - just ink the deal and get it home.

ITs probably more to get a PPI than a good set of tubs!!

Would Glen Ellen be "too far"? Asking because Sonoma Volkswagen is still around and I knew people who swore by them when I still lived down that way...

Didn't see this Gary. Put some in my gallery if interested. Didn't want a beetle infestation on the bay forum.

I will be in Portland in three weeks. Can definitely make a detour on my way south to give it a once-overů
