It keeps getting more famous. How does it drive with everything all finished? |

I'm happy with it but not completely the way I hoped.
Although everything from the front suspension is renewed or rebuilt (steering house, complete front axle and dampers), it's not comfortable enough for longer trips. Ans I also miss power steering.
The problem is that I have osteoarthritis in my back and neck.
I had discovered too late that there is a better complete RED 9 front suspension, but maybe I still should install that.
Unfortunately it is very expensive and a large job again. |

I didn't sell the bus because I have a new job to do.

There is something missing at the front of the bus...
The difference between old and new front beam is large.

The mounting of the Red 9 Design front suspension is going well, the bus is already on the front wheels.

Everything is mounted and functioning again.
I only have to make new wiring to the horn, because the new steering rod is not hollow.

The bus is at it's wheels again and I put it a bit higher, see rear wheel.
Soon the first test drive.

Did the steering conversion make it any easier to make low-speed turns? _________________ Bus Motor Build

I didn't make a test drive yet, but when I took the bus out of the garage my first impressions were a larger turning circle and easy steering indeed.
The rest I still have to find out. |

Where necessary, the bolts of the new steering system are secured now and checked everything again.
Finally the first ride with the new front suspension!
Here is a summary of the cons and pros of the RED 9 Design design.
Cons:
- Not cheap,
- Larger turning circle,
- More steering wheel turns needed,
- Horn must be connected differently from original.
Pros:
- The bus steers noticeably lighter,
- No play in steering system,
- Turns and roundabouts are much easier,
- Relaxed steering even at 100 km/h,
- Better suspension/damping, so bumps can be taken faster.
After the ride, rinsed well before the bus is parked for the winter.

I always peek into this thread when it's updated. Beautiful bus. That front suspension is quite a work of art. Nice job! |

Because the RED9 steering rod in the cabine isn't hollow, the push button in the steering wheel can't be connected for activating the horn.
I bought a Wireless Wizard kit for €30,31 including shipping and did some modifications with it.
From the universal control button I removed the housing and broke away parts of the plastic around the circuit board.
Unfortunately also the original horn button had to be sacrificed, some pieces of plastic inside have been removed.
When the horn button is now pressed, the button of the universal control is pressed against the RED9 steering rod and so I can activate the horn. Just tested with a light on my workbench and its functional.

very cool only issue is you will need to add a AA battery to your breakdown kit |
