Lordco, NAPA, VM Autohaus, Canadian Tire, Cowell Motors, Adria Imports.
Isn't it just an 1157? Its been over 40 years since I had a split bus but that's what I'm remembering... _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Get a Nickel Plated base one if you can, they are better at resisting Corrosion in the Socket than a plain brass version. Hella, Osram, and others offer them, might take a bit longer to track on down versus buying something at a local parts store.
Something like this one, if it's the right double filament for the '69 tail light[ I don't EVEN remember what my '68 took.... ]

Pretty sure it's an 1157 which is a very common bulb and should be available from most any place selling auto parts, even Wal-mart, certainly every FLAPS will have it. |

It's a 69 which makes it a Bay, not a Split.

I think I remember 1157 because everything I ever owned with a dual filament bulb took them: '59 Bus, '67 F100, '56 Bus, '57 Chevy 3100, '69 510 Wagon, '76 Cherokee, '69 Chevy pickup, etc. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Although an 1157 will work in most cases the real deal is a 1034 (use that Google machine to discover the subtle differences). In rare cases the wrong bulb can also cause issues with the signal flasher operation.

With semi opaque 50 year old lenses and corroded reflectors we can use all the extra brightness we can get. The industry in general swapped from 1034 bulbs to 1157 circa 1970 and never looked back. My guess is that a 1157 bulb today will last at least twice of what a 1157 bulb would have in 1970. |
