I recently lubricated the door latch mechanisms with some spray moly grease, and they are all much smoother now. Unfortunately, my right rear door has now developed the habit of opening (and then slamming shut) at seemingly random times, though turning corners is probably the most common time.

The door latch appears to be working correctly, and if I pull on the door it doesn't open. It doesn't matter if the door is locked or not.

I didn't have this problem before lubricating the mechanism. Any thoughts?

Well, I have two theories. One is that body flex is the issue, and that a tiny adjustment of the striker plate will solve the problem.

The other theory is that your car is haunted.

Let's hope it's the striker plate, because getting rid of apparitions can be a long and painful process. Very Happy

When I adjust the striker plate, I'll light some candles and park in the middle of a pentagram...just in case.
