got a set for my 52 , and excellent quality.
Mounting brackets not 100% but usable with mods.
I was happy with them.

this would be the correct style for a split dash '52.

Anyone else have comments about these bumpers? Seems like a great price.
How is the quality and thickness? |

Hi guys!
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but these bumpers are still around and I am looking for more experiences with them.
Has anyone here done a serious comparison with original bumpers and guards?
Thanks,
Anders |

.
Here is a recent discussion on the subject of Vietnam bumpers. It appears some like them and some don’t... I guess that depends on who’s swinging the hammer that day.
Here’s the link:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=769647&highlight=vietnam
From the image in their ad, one can clearly see there’s something seriously wrong with the rib in the foreground bumper, the rib in the background bumper is looking a little hinky as well. The bumper guards are also looking a little strange and inconsistent (perspective aside). Just remember, people often photograph their best work when selling a product.
EDIT: this post was meant to be sarcastic, as subtle as it may be.

If they are made the same way they have been in the past, they are beaten to shape by hand and the back side makes this very obvious.
There is no way for these things to be consistent.
There are other repros that are made the right way, by a set of dies and a multi ton press. The dies might not be exactly accurate but at least you know what you are going to get from one set to the next. _________________ Chris

Mine are nicely stamped, and smooth. Not hammered one bit. _________________ 1951 11C Hoffman split

This thread is about stainless steel ribbed bumpers from a vendor in Vietnam, the one that is listed here in theSamba classifieds. With that said, did you buy yours from the vendor that is located in Vietnam, the one listed here in theSamba classifieds? _________________ Type 1
