Hi everyone,
I'm just about to restore my standard hehr windows for my EZ camper. I need all of the cranks as mine have stripped and also need to renew all of the rubbers.
I am ordering from vintage trailer supply. I have emailed but the reply was a little vague.
I was hoping that someone could tell me exactly which rubbers i need and the amount needed to restore all 5 windows.
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Old thread, but perhaps still a good lead.

When I did my windows a few years ago I bought these kits from WW:

Since my bus is a kombi, I still needed a seal between the window frame and body. Panel conversion windows mount to the outside of the body, and are just sealed with a sealant as far as i know. I bought the gray stuff here:

At the time I didn't know this seal was available from Vintage Trailer Supply, or I probably would have bought it from them as well.

Don't forget these:

As far as lengths you need, just measure your windows and add a little extra length to be sure. I don't remember how much I ordered, but with the kits from WW they are already cut slightly bigger than what you need and you have to trim them.

...and these;

They made my windows silent - no glass vibration at all. They slip between the end of each glass pane and the metal holding bracket.

That's great. Thank you all for the info.
So to be clear before I order I the seal below worksfor both the glass to frame seal and also frame to window opening (mines a kombi) so I need to order double?

And also this one.

A set of cranks and I'm good to go.

Yep, the gray rubber will work for both glass to frame, and frame to body. Same stuff, just reversed.
Obviously you need a longer piece for the frame to body, I think Vintage Trailer sells it by the foot. Order extra.

The kit from Wolfsburg West is good, but it doesn't include a piece of the grey rubber for frame to body seal. It's set up for panel conversion windows. I called WW about this to see if I could buy the gray stuff by the foot instead of pre-cut. They said no, that's all that's available.. whatever..that's when I found the stuff from Vintage Trailer.

The gray rubber from Vintage trailer is slightly different than what comes in the WW kit. It's a softer rubber, and very slightly thicker. I had to use some lube when I re-installed the windows in the bus. The outside corners were a bit tight.

When you take your windows apart to re-build them, pay attention for a small spring falling out ( smaller than a pen spring). It goes onto the little plastic studs that line up with each other when you fold the new nylon glider into place:

http://www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Nylon-Friction-Pad-p/vts-348.htm

This little spring keeps friction between the nylon glider and the channel it rides in. This prevents the window from bouncing horribly when you close it.

I can't speak for the crank arms they sell, none were available when I did mine so I had a friend custom make a couple for me. Just check the lengths before you order.

Pick up some 3M weatherstripping adhesive as well. Yellow stuff in the black tube. It's a bit messy to work with, but it's good stuff to hold the rubber on. Excess slop can be cleaned up later with a solvent (i used gas) on a rag.

These window restorations are kind of tedious little things to do, but the windows are really great to have if you're camping.

Oops! Jonboy, I was picturing Jalousie windows in your EZ, like mine has, when I commented above about the discs to prevent vibration. I'm thinking they actually don't apply to the style of HEHR windows you have. They made various styles, etc. Sorry for any confusion Confused
