I just saw an ad for aluminum wide 5's that are lighter than stock. Laughing

I'm a big fan of minimizing un-sprung mass, so I looked into light weight wheels a few years ago. The only one's I liked didn't shave off much weight and were hideously expensive.

Does anyone know anything about the aluminum wheels offered by Car Craft? How's the fit and finish? How much do they weigh?

Cheers,

Paul

I know that when I took the steel wheels off my 92 XJ and weighed them.. they were 25 lbs each.. the new/used aluminum wheels i got weighed little over 5 lbs.. i noticed a HUGE difference in breaking and acceleration. felt like I added 20 horses.. lol
Anyway .. so on a vw with so little power to start with.. if you could shave 5 - 10 lbs each wheel.. it would be nice I bet..

I would be estatic to shave of 5 lbs. from each wheel!

I'm currently running 20 year old Mangles. I believe they weigh 15 lbs.

Stock wheels weigh 13 lbs.

If you go here, https://porsche356registry.org/article/161, you'll see that it's very hard to get below 10 lbs and still have a stock looking wheel.

Cheers,

Paul
