Don’t worry!! I have more post on doors! Laughing

Today I fished trimming the door bottom and got it in place and welded in. I finally got but welding clamps and that helped a lot. I didn’t get much of any warpage.

I got some rust holes I have to fix on bottom corner of the repair piece. One hole you can see is from a screw from a trim piece. Other than that corner, the rest of the repair piece is great

I got some more door work done, I got one piece of the replacement panel fixed, there was a small rust spot in the corner. But I got it ground down and got any remaining holes welded and stripped the entire door

Got the Red white blue going on with the door. I used a piece of a bus corner to repair the door bottom, all OG VW metal in the door

I swapped fuel senders yester, the one I had in was partially broken and I wasn’t confident in its accuracy. It was an magura replaced with a 1963 magura but there were some interesting differences. You can see the difference in how they are made with the stops etc

I also put a temporary window on the drivers side junk door as it’s getting cold and it’s my only car I can use currently

Just thought I’d post a little update:

First of all, I won class car Very Happy I guess both of my cars won so… Laughing class cars?

So our school colors are black and gold but we use yellow and gold pretty interchangeably so I got the beetle in our homecoming parade, painted some junk panels yellow and decorated it up for the parade today

I’ve been making progress, I got the left door almost completely body worked and ready for primer
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then I also had to redo some of the bodywork on the front right quarter and that is ready for primer

I kinda bumped a pile of sand and it cracked the filler, then it took me a while to get to it since it was my only car to drive for a few weeks and there were rainstorms so then it got wet under the filler and rusted making it worse

On the exposed primer spot, was the paint still wet? You know more about laying down paint than me but if it wasnt wet or still curing Shocked IDK may be something worth looking into. Duck tape is strong but...

Thanks!

No, it was dry paint. But the duck tape I used was gorilla tape. I had it on other parts of the paint and it didn’t do that. But I was a bit sad. At least the hood has other spots that need fixing Rolling Eyes

I bought another Squareback for parts and I was able to get a free oil cooler with it. The guy had accidentally put a hole in the top of it with a screw so it was free, I cleaned it up and welded it shut. Went for a test drive and no leaks.
