I ask, because if you fail too hard in California, you'll be labeled a "gross polluter" and be forced to test every year instead of every other year. A major pain in the ass, it can really bite you if you go in for a test blind. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt…

Yes, this was a "sniff" test done by a local shop.
