My wife is an avid crochet artist and makes me all kinds of things. After we got the bug we discussed various accessories for the interior to make it nice and pretty. I suggested maybe a blanket for passengers and we threw around different ideas and patterns. I then suggested we make a fancy doily for the back seat that would drape over it in a similar color to the paint.

Here are some night shots with flash just after she finished it.

She started it the night before and worked on it intermittently. It uses "soft white" acrylic yarn from JoAnn's. We bought two balls and she crocheted using a double strand to get it nice and thick.

It looks great from the rear window.

I hope this inspires others to try it out. Cool

Cheers!

Come on my friends! Who doesn't love when your wife gets involved in your hobby?

She has made a small one for the front seat for which I currently have no photos but maybe soon.

You need to show her there are more fun things to do in the back seat than crochet.

Thanks! We liken Betty's interior to somebody's grandmother's sitting room. That makes doilies on the couch a must!

If only! I'm 6'3" and she's 5'7" and we are both big, fluffy people. I mean we could do it, but it would not be much fun. Besides... Its Grannie's sitting room! LOL

That's why VW fitted the back seat with ankle straps.
