You're speaking of Mr. Chips. His yard was on highway # 3 near the small town of Delhi, Ontario. Everything you see in some of these pictures is now cleaned up due to the neighbours complaining. You can see him in the second picture with the 49 split.
The yard had hundreds of cars with the majority of them being vw's. Beetles, buses, porsches etc. He had a 1950 barndoor plus several other early barndoor buses including single cabs, several splits including a 49 and two or three zwitters that I saw rusting away, and lots and lots of ovals including early ones. He had a tow truck company and was a tobacco farmer as well.
His yard is only 30 minutes from my house. He died a few years ago and there is rumoured to be some stuff still there in the barns. He even had a few old airplanes in the back field. Cool guy but he was kind of hard to deal with. The junkyard was amazing. There was stuff everywhere and pigs and cattle roaming around. Here are some pictures that I found. When I get my scanner going again I will scan and post some of the ones that I took from my collection.

Drove past it a few weeks ago on the way to St. Thomas. There isn't much left, some rusting farm equipment out by the road. There could be stuff in the sheds, but they don't look too great themselves - I doubt they are keeping the weather off anything.
I believe at least 3 of those barndoors were pulled out and possibly saved.
Regarding the airplanes. The Canadian military was selling off equipment at the end of WWII. The story I heard (from another tobacco farmer) could just be a story.... was that Chip's and his father bought as many airplanes as they could get - these were working/flying planes. Brought them to the farm in Delhi and stored them. They figured there would be another war, and Canada would need the planes back. Then they could sell the planes back to the military for a profit. |

That Westdale Radio Bus came out of Hamilton/Stoney Creek Ontario. Westdale is a suburb of Hamilton near McMaster University. I have an original picture of that bus in 1964 when it looked much better _________________ 1953 Zwitter 11C (L73) |

Hey Thats my WIFE
I took about 1/2 those pics that dragowagon posted, back in 1984, I have a few more from our visit w/ Mr. Chips in '02, I'll try & dig them out.
Paul/Mynameismud went up & looked at the BD about 3-4 years ago on my info, he was tempted , but didn't buy any BD buses. _________________ Tom

When I went up- the old guy had passed away the November before (I went up that following May)..His daughter Debbie- was very accomendating and showed me around the place...there is a thread in the stories forum I think..of all the dead chickens and cow carcasses that were all over the place. Brian Jones, actually let me stay up at his place for a few days when I was cleaning ut that Panel that is on the back of the flatbed..it was filled to the roof with shit. At that time there were 3 bds- or what was left of them (1 panel, and 2 kombis). Rich came up and bought the 3, and i passed on the panel (can you say dumbass...) Matt Wheatherly, now has the panel- but it's cool, since its in a dry location and being taken care of. There are several other pics of the place in my gallery- early. _________________ Even YOU can prevent FIRES!

the first 2 buses were from Mr. Chips, the radio bus i believe was bought off of e-bay in New York and Rich picked it up on the way back from Chips. Beanie brian aka Brian McCue owns the kombi and the radio panel. i believe the middle panel is now in texas _________________
