Hi everyone,
I believe my bus still has the original paint and I'd like keep it and clean it up a bit but after washing and scrubbing I cannot seem to remove these white streaks / drips running down the side. Has anyone here dealt with this or know how to remove it without damaging the paint?
Thank you for the help! |

Followed by some good wax.
Beware though, once you start you'll want to do the whole bus because the part you did looks so good. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

if you use a buffer go easy because it will burn thru the paint especially on edges. Start by rubbing by hand first. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

just to add dimension to what is going on.
the white streaks are oxidized white paint 'chalking' down the side.
once you use the rubbing compound to remove that top oxidized layer of the paint, and put on a good wax, and keep it waxed (monthly/3months depending on quality and application/environmental impacts) . it should minimize the issue.. _________________

Hello.
You could use some powdered comet or ajax, it is a very light abrasive. It's a poor mans detail trick.
It will remove the oxidation and give you a shinny clean finish. It also cleans up the oxidized rubber trim... All you have to do is wash the bus from top to bottom. Try it, it works... 99 cents beats 20 dollars for a bottle rubbing compound. It's the same thing, a light abrasive...
I'm not cheap, I'm just frugal... And it works. |
