Hmmm… Every other Echlin product I've used has been far superior to the Bosch replacements these days. Perhaps it's old, sticky, or has dirty contacts? Is the housing removable to restore the innards?

Yes, Echlin is one of a few Napa house brands. Their points are damn good- best I've ever seen actually.

Bentley lists 14.5 as the maximum allowed "no load" voltage at 1500 engine RPM, (unless you have one of the special 38-amp generators, then it's 14.2.) At 790 engine RPM, the generator's output should be 12.0 volts.

Again, I don't know what this has to do with auto-sticks, but it sounds interesting enough that it's worth investigating.
