Hello everyone,
Yesterday I found that I needed some clearance between my number 2 rod cap and camshaft thrust area. I have an Empi 125 grind cam that came pre-clearanced as cast. In the process I nicked the camshaft journal a couple times. OOPs should I toss the cam and start over or is this a big deal? Could I just polish it up and run it?

I think a light polish will be ok. It's very minimal. _________________ www.LoCashRacing.org

If it is below surface, It will just hold oil. Polish it smooth NO raised edges you will be fine. |

I would take a file to it and do a little extra clearance,as with wear things will expand a tiny bit more.. so file it down a little more that way in a few thousand miles its not hitting again.. |

It should be just fine.
You've got lots more surface area on that journal and if it makes you feel better I did the same thing when deburring my cam shaft.
Just make sure there are raised edges and you will be good to go. _________________ Andrew Kirby |

Well I should have stated my issue more clearly. I am in the process of building my first stroker motor 80mmx92. I had my shortblock mocked up and didnt notice it. Then I tore it down for some reason(oh yea cuz I forgot to check lifter bore clearance) and found this interference area. I must have not seen it the first check. oops. I nicked my cam journal with the die grinder while grinding on this cam to gain clearance. oops again.
Thanks for all the help
