Following the hose down from the reservoir. Goes to a t. One side goes up to a hose clamp on to plastic piece seams to be leaking out of where the plastic piece mounts to the engine. Seems to atrace with two very long hex keys. Leak is coming out out on top of the plastic just to the left of the label (uro parts)
And on the bottom side as well. Can't get a good look at the bottom.
We are camping outside of Mitchell for the eclipse and not sure how totally screwed we are yet..... _________________ 69 Bug (died)

Ok looks like the thermostat housing. Can this be replaced in the campground. If I can get parts....
Or should I think about getting it towed. _________________ 69 Bug (died)

We are at the mountain creek eclipse thing. It is this guys ranch. Not sure how far Walton lake is. We are 7 miles east of Mitchell on 26.
Got the old one off. Got a new one coming into prineville napa tomorrow am. Not sure if I can fix it or not. Tow company wants $1200 to get it home....
My # is 503-791-2168
I hope The kit will have all the gaskets and stuff I need...
Any ideas or help is always appreciated.
At least I have phone service. _________________ 69 Bug (died)

How much coolant have you lost?
Every 24v vr6 engine I've seen has evidence of minor leaking at the housing. |

OK, cool - Walton Lake is the other direction from Mitchell, so glad to hear you have a part coming in already; not sure I could make it your way. Good luck and enjoy the eclipse! |

I appreciate the help. It drains everything above the thermostat.
Thanks

Goodness, where is the tow company located, South Carolina? Seriously, that's more than I paid to have my A4 Avant hauled from Myrtle Beach SC to Bellingham Washington (coast to coast) and Myrtle beach is an hour off the main highway.
Joking aside, good luck with the repairs and happy eclipse'ing. |

Thanks for the thoughts. We are at a beautiful spot. Should have plenty of food. Just need to relax and enjoy the weekend.
Would like to get things fixed so we aren't stranded. But we are ok for now. _________________ 69 Bug (died)

Got it replaced. Drove it around a bit today. No overhearting no coolant leaking. We will see how the trip home goes.
Thanks for the input everyone. _________________ 69 Bug (died)

Good job, having done that job in my driveway, I know that must've been a real challenge to do at a campsite. _________________ Casey--
