I have a t04 turbo that I am installing on a2332 EFI. It will be going into a bug with hideaway headers. Can I drain my turbo oil into the opening where the fuel pump was removed. Or do have to return to the oil sump which means a bung welded to the side of the sump. |

As I've understood it, you need to get the most flow, and frothy oil from the turbo has a lot of volume. You have to drain it into open air (like the fuel pump opening), and never below the sump line, otherwise the oil will impede flow.
No turbo expert here, by any means.
Someone will chime in that they drain into the sump, and everything is fine, but I still think it's a bad idea, in the long run. |

If you are going to run a hideaway header the easiest thing to do is get a bugpack thinline sump and weld a bung to the side of it.run the largest return hose possible. _________________ Never look down at anybody unless you are helping them up..

The best way to route the drain is to use one of these.

Than use a 7 inch piece of pipe that clears the exhaust pipes add some fire sleeve, an fitting on the end and a small an hose to the sump. I wish I had taken a picture but I didnt. It barely clears and you don't have excess hose. Forgot to add you can tap hole for 5/8 threads. _________________ Never look down at anybody unless you are helping them up..

I've been draining mine into the fuel pump opening since 2001. Works great. |

I would love to see this!! Do you have any pictures of you defying the laws of gravity with a hideaway header? ? _________________ Never look down at anybody unless you are helping them up..

Oil needs to flow down hill so Baja header can use the fuel pump location and the hideaway must use a sump or Type 3 Dip stick location. _________________ -John Cox

Been flowing mine from the hideaway header to the sump for a while. Never had a problem. As stated above, the key is to have it sloping down hill. That, and a big drain tube (5/8" for me) _________________ -74 Standard - "CaliBug" 2084T, MS3X w/FI and Crank Fire

Yup, I have a baja header. Sorry. I missed that he had a hide away header. |
