I noticed they used the Zalex Industries Engine Test Stand to fire it up. Nice! and great job on the build.

Just saw the show on re-run, and enjoyed it. Since they're not VW guys I thought it turned out pretty nice style wise. I would've liked to see more of the before though, I have my suspicions on the rockers and floors and all the normal rust issues since all the trim was removed and several quickie shots throughout the show looked kinda wonky. Some of the technical comments were cringe worthy especially coming from the so called VW expert. I don't think the doors fit especially well at the end and the rocker seams were filled.
But for one of these type shows it was enjoyable to watch.

Sent here from another post.

Did they even take the body off... and check the pans? If they did, I don't remember it or maybe that's "on the cutting room floor".

I've meet Elliot Vancel... nice guy and big VW expert/organizer here in Dallas.

Martin Bros. is only about 6 miles from my house. Where I live, that's next door.

Just saw an old rerun of this today.
When they showed a shot of the hood after the engine was put in, the center lines at hood and nose were way off like the hood was misaligned and shifted to the drivers side.

Along with the quick cut of the rear apron, it seemed like a rush job.

Can’t imagine all that work media blasting and not even taking the body off the pan.
