Hi all.

I'm sure the answer is here somewhere but I can't find it.

On the instrument cluster white plastic bulb holder, does the metal piece position like this? ( I think this is correct)

Is that piece simply a shim to keep the plastic piece from slipping?

edit: yes. This is correct.

I can not make out what that piece is, or where it is supposed to go.
How does it relate to "Instrument Bulb Holder"?

It's an upper reflector. Yes for the top image.

cmayna: thanks.

David: thanks too!

That detail on the hinged bit was something I was unaware of.

After doing some custom wiring on the ribbon, one bulb was acting up. Figured I'd check the white plastic to make sure it hadn't fallen apart at bulb hole. Otherwise no real reason to remove that white plastic part. But I'm sure I'm not the only one to have done so!

Neil.

When I put LEDs in, I discovered one of the reflectors had fallen out (making the incandescent even worse than it was). Both, however, looked like crap, so I polished 'em up for even better reflection:

Glad you started this thread. What exactly is the function of this piece? Since they were all painted black from the factory it can't be a reflector. Perhaps a shield to avoid glare. Why wasn't it a reflective surface to improve the lighting? Only the shadow knows.
