Just for fun I thought it would be nice to have a thread showing all the different engine conversions. (I looked, there wasn't one)
Please, this is not about which is better, that's been flogged to death on other threads.
Just straight forward pictures of the engine compartment of the various conversions-Shop built, kits, DIY, etc.
I'll start:
1990 Syncro Westy
Zero mile crate Zetec engine with a hybrid combination of Bostig kits.
Power steering, A/C, no cruise.(yet) Installed by owner.
Let's see what ya got! _________________ Currently:

Our ALH TDI, not the final version, but this was already uploaded here.
2.0 Tiico purchased used, to install in a 90 2wd camper to get it movable. Nothing fancy.

My M-Tdi on-going conversion in a Syncro conversion van (to finish up as well), the second M-Tdi I ever did.
First one was 10 years ago, still kicking ass when I go back to France for vacation, the van gets out of hibernation
My first Subaru 2.2L with UN1 transmission, my daily, kinda: I exploded the differential a few months ago, gotta replace it soon with a UN5 differential.
I did 2 other Subie conversions too, don't have good pics, always the same stuff anyway _________________ Silicone Steering Boots and 930 Cv boots for sale in the classifieds.

I loathe thread derailments, BUT......
why is it that the Bostig conversion looks less like a misguided science experiment than all the rest? It looks even better than an OG WBX install. _________________ Imagine that, theres not an "h" in either Westfalia or Syncro? |

Here's mine right after install. I wish the EJ22 still looked this clean.

I agree. The Bostigs and the EJ22s look clean AF. Like that's what Wolfsburg should have done originally.
I contacted Bostig about Diesel support, but they said I was on my own....
(same motor in EU, just different fuel). _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

Out with the old (2.1, 250K on the van, 130K on the rebuilt motor)...
In with the new (Eion installed RG4, 3/2016, 25K trouble-free miles)

The OG wbx looked like exactly what it was: a multi-year conglomeration of parts, most of which were never intended to work with their cohorts, i.e. it lacked design integrity and it showed. _________________ - Jim
