^^^ yeah, that seems likely for a 70s/80s theft alarm, but why put it on the passenger side?

So you arm it curb side, not street side

Took my ECU apart and installed the emulator, but now I can't seem to get it back together. The 2 part plastic shield goes on over the posts, but the emulator seems to foul the plastic which now won't lie fair. Do I need to trim something? What am I doing wrong?

Well, the battery (Werker brand from Batteries Plus) is on its last legs. On the charger now. I've been expecting this for several years. It's been there since I got the Van in 2011. (!) Revisited posts in this thread.
So: looking at replacements.
Oreilly's sells a Super Start Group 41, 650 CCA, 2 yr. warranty for 155.00 (Weight 38 lb.)
Or I can get a Duracell T65, 750 CCA, same warranty, for 20 bucks more. Weight 48 lb.
Both have carrying straps.
Interstate Group 41 650 CCA Web price 150.00. No strap.
Not sure I need 750 CCA.
And I doubt any of these will last as long as the old one. It has been a real trooper! _________________ =BCE56=

Just replaced my front end suspension all bushings coils and shocks on my 82 dassle van. It is out of alignment though. Gonna get it aligned tomorrow. When I turn the wheels all the way on each side, there is a point in the turn where you hear a pop. Just wondering if anyone has experienced that and if you think it might settle itself in after some miles. |

I've been happy with the Walmart battery that I bought three years ago. There's also good size info in this thread.

I usually buy the most CCA I can fit into the hole where the battery goes, buying by weight would be an other good idea. Walmart is good if you travel as they are everywhere.
In the PNW I like to buy the 7 year warranty batteries I can get from Les Schwab. Never had to use the warranty yet. |

I have searched and searched, but cannot find a US vendor for a hi-lift jack adapter for the Vanagon OEM jack points - I know campervanculture does one in the UK, but it's EXPENSIVE!

Finally found late model front caliper rebuild kit (o-rings and dust seals) in stock, ordered, and I'm awaiting delivery, probs next week.
Question; with the late model caliper, it has a single piston design, and I believe from memory that the opposite side is open enough to allow a brake cylinder hone.
Just hope to hear from other folks about what they used, or if it was just as good to go with 2000 grit wet sandpaper and do it by hand (like Bay Bus calipers that didn't have access for a hone).
Also, are all Vanagon bleeders the same size/pitch? Thinking I should make as clean a rehab as I can, so looking for advice on bleeders.
Thanks

Maybe someone can draw a diagram of it going together? I really want to put this turbo on and learn how they work. And stuff about my engine. I think it’s a 1y. Idk. It’s really slow it needs turbo real bad. |

I have a lazy / stupid question.
What is the correct size and tension of the 3 V belts? I bought and installed the gowesty belt sizes, and tightened all 3 down to about 1/2" play from the center. I had to tighten the water pump/alt belt a bit after a mile test drive; it is about 1/2-3/4 of the way up the toothed 'tensioner', but I wanted to make sure this is correct.
Alternator / Water Pump Belt - 10 x 1100
Power Steering Belt - 10 x 1075
Air Conditioner Belt - 13 x 1150 |
