I've looked at those Bill but it would take up a lot of floor space plus when in use there is no way to work under the car. Might be great for brake jobs though.
I'd love to have one of these but I'd need a whole new garage
|
Yea, I'd get pretty excited to have a full size lift in the garage. LMAO!! But, the alteration to my garages attic and concrete slab makes in only a dream. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I mostly just employ the jack to bring the car down to where you don't have to lift at all. All you have to do is spin the hub or tire. |
Usually any car I'm working on is supported by jack stands. Sometimes front and back. All the tires are off so I can do some kind of maintenance. I want to install the tires prior to removing the stands. |

At Toyota's Arizona Proving Grounds you are not allowed to lift tire and wheel combos and need to use a portable lift. The tire machine and wheel balancer also have built in lifts to pick and moves the tire and /or wheel. |

I'm older than Gary, worked a few years in a tire shop replacing all the tires on everything from giant farm tractors with calcium filled tires to 18 wheelers to Replacing the crap Michelins on new Mercedes Benz' with Pirellis. I get his point. If it's on jack stands ya gotta lift the wheels. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

I like the rollers on the ATV lift idea. _________________ If you haven't bled on them, you haven't worked on them.

I've got the vision for this tool courtesy of this mornings drive.
It's a single bar, wheel on bottom, a hook that picks up a wheel gap, you pivot the handle up with a 5:1 advantage to lift the tire until it touches the hub.
I don't have the rotation part worked yet _________________ .ssS! |

Google Ski doo lift bar, some of those simple forked pry bar jacks could lift a tire easily as they are, add some rollers or a strap and some casters on the bottom and it may be a simple solution. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Update:
The tire dolly arrived last week and I was very happy with the quality. Friday I started my engine pull so I quickly put it to work
Raise the bus, slide in the dolly and use the lever to take up any slack.
Lug nuts come off and the tire slides right out. Then installation is the opposite. I like the rollers on the dolly because they make lining up the lugs very easy.

I like stuff like that, makes it super easy to spot in someone elses shop if they borrow it and forget to return it
Nice find Gary, I might just have to consider something like that myself one of these days, getting older sucks. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
