I am replacing the floor of my Eurovan, and a question just came up.
As we were removing the carpet we saw there is a black grill on the back of the front passenger seat, and when we removed the grill we saw a hole cut on the subfloor of the van. We don't know what it's for. Would it be ok if we covered the hole on the floor with the new vinyl plank slats? Or do we have to maintain the whole and grill?

we are replacing the floor of our vw van with a wood vinyl flooring. but we don't know how to finish of the edge of the floor where the sliding door is. The subfloor terminates a bit before it meets the edge plastic trim cover and it slopes down drastically, leaving a difference in height of an inch or so between the finish floor and the plastic trim.
Any idea how we can finish of this edge without needing to buy a custom carpet trim piece?

I don't have any ideas on this that don't involve either a custom transition piece, or a custom replacement sill, but I am very interested in seeing what you come up with on this. Please do post pictures! (Sorry not more helpful.) |

Depending on how thick and pliable the vinyl is, you could roll it down over the edge of the wood subfloor, and tuck it under the plastic cover at the step. Have a look at how Cole finishes his floors at cavevan.com
If the vinyl is too stiff, maybe try heating it with a hairdryer or heat gun to soften it? _________________

Why not just make a custom set of wires with a Y splice in them. Then you could just run one distributor. |
I don't think electrickery works that way |

we managed to finish of the edge of the flooring by placing the thin vinyl strip under the plastic edge trim, below is a picture of how it looks like!
we've already gone camping with our new floor and are so in love with it!

Getting ready to do the same thing to my EV. Wondering what flooring you went with and what is the thickness of the vinyl? |

We are convinced the previous owner never once cleaned this van in the 12 years of his kids growing up in it which led to a dire need for flooring upgrade.
We went with a thin snap lock (about $1/sqft) and a custom trim piece at the slider. For the trim piece we made a cardboard template and then cut from a solid piece of hardwood.
Here's how it looked when we bought it:
Here's the new floor and trim piece:
Still need to trim out the rear:

I am getting ready to do the floor replacement. I plan to just do the front section not the back. It looks like that's what you did, too. I have two questions: Did you have to remove the bench seat? and did you have to remove the molding around the sliding door entry? If so, how does it come off? Im so new to this and don't want to mess it up! Thank you for any advice |
