What header are you using with your homemade heater boxes and will the fresh air hoses from the fan housing to the heater boxes clear the #2 and #4 exhaust pipes?

Can you make me a set of those heater boxes? PM!

interesting combo!

I never seen anyone use a 1-3/4 header with a cam that is so small in the lift department (only .461 with the 1.1's)

Be interesting to see how it runs!

Wow, this build takes me back 10 years ago when I was building my 2276. I've done 4 or 5 pairs of those bigger heater boxes at this point, and I don't know if I ever want to do another pair again! Too much work! Haha. I'm interested to see if (and how long) your boxes stink up the car with the coating applied to the inside.

For what it's worth, I tried a few different types of fins inside the heater boxes I did, and the first problem is there is nearly no room inside to fit fins. Secondly, I never found the "fins" to be all that much hotter when it was all said and done, especially after all the extra time to fabricate and fit that stuff. Just my experience...Keep up the good work!

74 Thing: I think it’s a berg header. I bought it used off the classifieds. #3 and #4 tubes had to be modified to link up to the heater boxes. What I did for the fresh air pipes was I used one of those flexible metal pipes I got at my local Napa. It takes a little work with a hammer to make them fit but they won’t melt like the aluminum foil stuff.

Youngnstudly: I baked them in an oven to cure the coating. I did the same thing to my last set and I don’t remember it ever stinking up the car. I also agree that fins wouldn’t help much unless it’s aluminum like the originals. But there is no room for that.

The heat output is pretty good. I can feel the warm air blowing on my legs from the heater channel vent. Using a fan from a bus really increases the output and warms up the inside faster. My dad has that set up on his type 3.

I do not have any for sale. They do take quite a bit of time to make.
