It needs the orange trim - and I'd like it better if the VW was chrome... Shocked Cool

The system is amazing. On road drivability and traction are nuts. The down side has been offroad (which I anticipated). Despite getting the lowest possible final drive ratio it does not have enough torque to do anything beyond mild to low moderate 4wd trails. Soooooo I will likely be doing a Boxeer swap in the near future.

Those are really nice. If there's one downside of LED lights it's that they don't output enough heat to keep themselves clear of ice/snow. The heated ones from JW Speaker solve that. Great product.

welded up a bike rack for the aluminess box. 1up racks on top of that.

Do you use a step ladder to get the bikes up there?

You must have a decent bench press. Laughing Lifting 30 lbs to head height and balancing it on a rail is not the easiest thing in the world. I like the packaging, but I think I would consider a small hitch step.

lol, fortunately those 1up racks make it easy, you just back a tire into one of the uprights and it holds it while you secure the front.

But also massive pecs and shoulders... Laughing

Why are you thinking of doing a Boxeer swap? Just invest in a well build original syncro transmission, change gearing a bit if you want more comfortable driving. But that will give you the rear locker and granny that you need to climb that steep stuff. Theres been a lot of improvement options for the syncro tranny that make them much more reliable especially with that EJ25 engine.
Do you still have the syncro tranny?

never had the syncro tranny to begin with. The whole idea of this rig was to be an overland beast with great traction in those conditions. It does that very very well. I really love the overall drivabillity of the suby transaxle

Now I'm just being greedy and hoping for some better steep terrain power. Smile

I totally Agree , just put an authentic syncro trans in it.
Those subi trans are not made to haul the heavy loads of a deck'd out syncro long term.
From what my customers have shared with me the diff carrier always seems to grenade on them. Just sayin.
