So roughly 5 years after selling my project buggy to my dad.... i'm now the owner of the same damn buggy again. Dad's been busy with other projects so the buggy is in the exact same state as it was sold in. Decided i wanted a fun project and after looking around at alternatives this somehow seamed like a good idea

In the last couple of weeks the pan has been blasted and painted with Por-15, chassis is nearly a roller, body has been sanded and primed. Plus a bunch of parts have been ordered and man have prices gone up on VW parts.

the basic's of the buggy are:
Manx style body painted arctic white
Basic black interior
Empi sprint stars
Socal wide 5 4 wheel discs
2275 with 44 IDF's level 5 acn heads, Engle FK8

On to the Pics or at least signs of life Smile

Body, pan, brakes, suspension, trans, rims and some misc small parts were there but sadly not an engine.

Most of the engine parts have arrived, waiting on aircooled.net for the carbs, heads and cam to ship

Have a set of seats coming from ebay. Went with the oddly named retro classic vintage racing buckets but they looked OK online and the dimensions were buggy friendly

Ebay seats showed up yesterday. Initial impression, well built for the price and comfortable but very narrow in the hips. Haven't taken the included sliders out of the box yet.

Just keep in mind if your not comfy in the car you will dread driving it.

Mine hurt my knee too much so I went for a baja instead, still miss the miles of smiles i got from the buggy though...well for the first 30 min anyways Sad

Looking good! Love the Sprint Stars.

I've considered those seats myself, how is the quality of the vinyl?

2275 w/K8 should rip in that thing.

The quality of materials is surprisingly decent and the seats are relatively light but it will take time and miles to see how durable the vinyl really is

Had some Herculiner left over from the body so I used it on the topside of the pan halves.

Gathering parts and the shifter came in. Went with a CSP curved 290 mm shaft. Shift ball placement seams pretty good based on the seat height

So not a lot happening.... minor items getting worked on. I do have a set back though. I've been waiting on ACN for parts and just got word that the Level 5,6 and 7 heads aren't available anymore.

So i need to rethink my heads/carb and cam...sigh.

I have been collecting some engine parts for the buggy:

aluminum case- pre clearanced
82mm crank
94 B mahles
true arc clips
Engle FK8 and coated engle lifters
straight cut gears
german 009 and a compu fire module
taylor 10mm wires
1.5 qrt sump
26mm oil pump
12.5 lbs flywheel
CE power pulley

I need to get the rotating assembly balanced and sort out the top of the engine. The original plan was for level 5 ACN heads and 44IDF's.

Now i'm thinking CB min wedges and 48IDA's or possibly turbo.... decisions Confused
